Transmission Technology -Automatic Transmission Repairs

Since the late 1980's automatic transmissions have relied more and
more on the function of computers and other electronic components.

Electronic components include. sensors, shift solenoids, lockup
solenoids, power train control units, speed sensors, and many more.
A malfunction or a simple broken wire on any one of these can render
your car inoperable.

Mechanical repairs include: gears, torque converters, differentials,
valvebodys, clutches, transmission fluid, bands and more.

Some repairs require removing the entire transmission from the vehicle
which at times can cost more that the actual transmission repair. On
the other hand, many (not all) of the electronic repairs can be done
with the transaxle still in the car. Sometimes electrical repairs take
much longer to fix due to intermittent symptoms.
